Investing in Young Talent

Mainer Academy

We believe that investing in young talent is key towards a sustainable future which is why we have created our graduate scheme - the Mainer Academy.

The aim is to give graduates the experience they need to succeed in the sustainability sector, while working in a consultancy environment on live sustainability and built environment projects across the UK.

The first years have proved fruitful, with graduates involved in the programme successfully developing a range of technical and soft skills. This has led to the successful offer of several permanent roles within the company itself, underlining the scheme’s aim to provide a clear pathway to full-time employment.

At Mainer, we aim to engage with students at university as a recruitment initiative and to provide them with valuable insight into future career options. This is followed by our Mainer Academy programme for successful students, which provides a step up the career ladder.

Hear from our recent graduates

Joe and Mark are our graduates from previous years who now work full-time here at Mainer, they discuss their experience of the programme. Anna and Lucy are our most recent graduates.

“Taking part in client meetings and attending site visits for high-profile developments have been great experiences. I have been able to physically see the progression of my work.”

Joe Clough, Sustainability Consultant

“It’s great to be working in a variety of roles at Mainer, from helping to deliver WLCA at NTU’s Art & Design building to being part of the team developing Mainer’s new carbon reporting app.

Mark Owen-Phillips, Sustainability Consultant

“I gained an interest in building sustainability after doing an internship in waste management for a consultancy company and then decided to join the field. My academic experience has given me an understanding of the environmental challenges faced by urban areas which is something I wish to expand at Mainer.”

Anna Berger, Graduate Sustainability Consultant

“Following my BA in Art and Design, I decided to further explore sustainability and innovation outside the creative industry by completing an MSc in Management and Sustainability so I can facilitate a career where I can encourage people to engage with climate action for sustainable development. I look forward to developing new practical skills at Mainer.
